Ticket #45 (new task)
How to get involved?
|Reported by:||dclark@…||Owned by:||rcorsaro|
IMHO your site could benefit from some links or verbiage describing how to get involved - when evaluating trac-based forge-like software recently I found your site, but I couldn't find links to mailing lists, irc channels, or any other obvious methods people may use to talk to each other about the project. I was doing the eval and bring-up very quickly (at a conference sprint), so I didn't think to open a ticket about it at the time.
From code.autonomo.us/pm/p/config/wiki/ClueMapper#InitialGeneralResearch? (your spam filter is preventing actual links):
Initial General Research
There seem to be 3 projects that provide forge-like functionality to trac:
- cluemapper.org ClueMapper?
- code.optaros.com/trac/oforge/ OForge
- www.drproject.org/ DrProject?
Of these OForge dev seems to be closed (couldn't find irc channel or mailing list), and DrProject seems to be focused on education and uses daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/ FailWiki? syntax by default, so ClueMapper? was chosen.
Various autonomo.us people happen to personally know the people behind ClueMapper? (in fact one got them to open up the cluemapper-dev list to automatic subscriptions recently; it was previously not open as they were worried about spam).
It should be noted that all 3 of these seem to be 1-person (or at least 1-commiter) projects as of Mar 2009. None seemed to be significantly more active than any other based on timeline, mailing list traffic etc.
Also if anyone feels like doing some serious hacking and really likes both django and trac, the www.fsf.org FSF has some code from a 2007/2008 aborted effort to create code.fsf.org code.fsf.org using an approach that integrated the 2 projects.
